A Lifelong School: What It Means to be an Educated Person
A Lifelong School: What It Means to be an Educated Person
Every year we load up buses and backpacks, textbooks and sack lunches, and send our children to school. But what’s it all for? What actually happens to our kids in school? Who are they becoming? And what are they learning? With increasing choices of where to educate our children, and heated rhetoric about school and student performance alike, how can we create educational communities that nurture all of our children? As parents, we have to make daily choices that affect the future possibilities for our kids, but we often feel confused and inadequate to the task. Join Chad Smith of HumanWealth Partners in this mini-course exploring the real purpose of an education as a complex dance between facts and figures, ABCs and 123s, but also, and equally important, lessons about emotional intelligence, moral and character development. Parents and students will learn to recognize the dynamics at play in modern educational systems, as well as discover strategies to guide decision-making when evaluating educational options throughout life. This course is recommended for parents of school-age children, students currently enrolled in school programs, and those considering going back to school. 90 minutes. Releases January 1, 2023.
